Little tidbits of news

Gerda is now home. She is tired, but glad to be out of the hospital. She just needs lots of rest now.
~
Today has been a nice, normal school day. Everyone worked hard today and got their stuff done. Now the kids are studying their Awana verses and it's almost time for afternoon read-aloud with tea and cookies.
Still my favorite time of the day.....
~
Jackson has been coming up and hugging me these last few days, saying "I'm so glad to have you be my mommy." Awwww, way to touch Mommy's heart! Of course, he then waits for me to say, "I'm so glad to have you be my boy."
~
Some of the kids are still worn down by the last cold that went through. It's a hanger-oner. But we are just ignoring it and hoping it goes away soon.
~
I would maybe list some more boring news here, but it's time to go make some tea and get that read-aloud book out. :-)

Ralph and I went down to visit Gerda today. She looked good. They did angioplasty and then a laser to clean out the vein. She had 2 blood clots and also her vein was very clogged (I'm sure that is not the right term, but I forget... oh well, you get the idea). She should actually feel better once the recovery period is over, since her leg will be getting better circulation now.
After we left the hospital, my sweetie took me out to lunch and then we went to Frys so he could drool over the computers. Then for some strange reason we stopped on the way home and looked at some model homes, which I enjoyed, even though it made me want to come home and deep clean my house, which isn't a bad thing....Now if only I will follow through!
Then we came back to the best place in the world,
Home Sweet Home!
Now the older members of the family are watching the Olympics, the youngers are probably wondering if I am ever going to show up in their rooms for bedtime prayers, and I am sitting here with a cup of hot chocolate. So life is good, and I'm off for those bedtime prayers....

Update on Ralph's Mom

Gerda does have a blood clot. A large one leading to the artery that goes to both legs (femur artery I think?). So today they are going to do surgery, not sure when yet. From what I understand, they are going to remove the blood clot. So please pray for Gerda, she is scared and worried about the surgery. Please pray for the doctor, who, strangely, is having a tooth removed this morning before he starts surgeries, that he would have a steady and sure hand. Thanks.
Now off to wake the blessings......

It all started with Rebecca's chicken pox....or was it chicken pox? It looked like them, but it was mild, and no one else got them...so who knows? Anyway, then the whole house besides me slowly went through a cold. Then they were well. Then Cara went away, stayed up way too late I'm sure every night, which is bad when you have a Cara immune system....and here we go again. First Cara, then Nick, then Joey, then Samantha......So since half the house is sick again, I am letting them all sleep in and having a very quiet morning to myself. So I thought to myself, Self, you should blog. But for some reason, I don't seem to have much to say these days. Life is going on just fine (besides the colds), but I haven't been taking pictures or blogging about life. I wonder why? I don't know....
Sunday was Valentines day and we had a nice linner of barbecued chicken after church, some of the kids made me cards, we bought the kids all some chocolate, and my dear husband bought me a beautiful card and some yummy truffles. Omi was here, and it was a good day. But did I take any pictures? No. Then last night was goofy glasses night at Awana. Joey and Rebecca made some cute glasses. Did I take any pictures? No. I don't know about me. I will try to do better.
I hear some kids stirring and hopefully they are not too sick to do school, so I guess I will go and see what's going on. Hopefully next time I post I will have a picture or two, cuz posts without pictures are kinda boring, no?
~
P.S. I have no update on Gerda yet. I will post one as soon as I hear something.

Prayer for Gerda (Omi)

Yesterday Ralph's mom woke up with her legs numb. She spent a whole day in the emergency room. They were looking at her back and thinking it could have something to do with that since she had a procedure done to her back last week. When they didn't find anything wrong they sent her home, since the numbness had finally gone away. (Why they didn't look further than the back when that all came back ok is a mystery). Then in the night it happened again and she started having severe leg pain. So she went back and is there now. Now they are thinking it is maybe blood clots. But it doesn't seem like they know, really. They were going to send her home again, but she requested to stay til they figure this out. (Duh!) Soooo, she will spend the night there. That's about all I know right now. So please pray for her and I'll keep the blog up to date when I know more. Thanks.....
